This unique Eastern Iowa barn was built in 1839 before Iowa was a state. It has a European influence with slots on the right side that were used for light and ventilation. There are four levels inside this barn, one of which the original founders occupied. The cattle were house trained to minimize the smell. This barn is located in Eastern Iowa.
